EM Update November 2019

This month turns our hearts to thankfulness… which can sometimes fade into the shadows when life gets difficult and we get tired. But, I find that the old song about counting our blessings and naming them one by one is a way to lighten those heavy places.
So, I remember that God has been using this ministry to bring life, hope and health to patients at the T-RAD and Rain Tree clinics; PA students are learning new things daily that will impact their communities for many years to come; donors have continued to pour out their generosity for funding special projects like the T-RAD lab expansion and ongoing project expenses; volunteers from all over the USA, Ireland, Australia, and the UK have given invaluable time and energy to help serve in a variety of ways including English and math tutoring, building a classroom at Salay, setting up the guesthouse in Ler Doh, and student training by many medical professionals.
We are so grateful for all the wonderful correspondences, prayers for provision and safety, and time spent working together with an amazing group of people – the Earth Mission ‘family’! Thanks for being part of this ministry!

“He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.” – Ephesians 4:16 (NLT)

Earth Mission Annual Report 2018

“Sometimes I process the gifts which come to Earth Mission, in order to help in the office. It is such a blessing to visualize those of you who start a bank transfer or sign a check. It also gives me time to interact with Laura and Jill as they make things happen to get the money to the places where needed. Our new software allows us to better stay in touch with our donors and their goals.

We are very thankful for your part in supporting our projects through your prayers and your dollars. We hope this Annual Report for 2018 will help you understand our ministry better. You may continue to keep current with our activities by reading our EM Update each month.

Often, I find my actions are motivated by my engineering training or my natural bent and my giving through friendship or personal interest. Jesus said “Feed my sheep.” A life of service to the Master is the call we have. It is not so much as recognizing a need and acting according to my gifting but rather serving Jesus and He will use my gifting to bless that service.”

Earth Mission Asia Yearbook 2019

I would like to introduce you to the heroes in this book. They have saved lives. They have braved roaring rivers to take a patient to help. They have faced rabid dogs. Others have held the hands of little ones as they take their last breath. Also in this book are their teachers who have not stopped until the future hero understands. There are staff that have faced hard conditions far from the comfort of their hometowns and people who have stayed up through the night to care for patients. People who have faced fear and pushed through. Other heroes have made sure that the staff is taken care of, that medicine is purchased, that the electricity is flowing, and that the equipment is working.

But I’ll let you in on a little secret: none of these heroes are Harvard educated intellectuals, recognized authors, elite athletes, or come from famous families. Not even close. These are ordinary people. Ordinary people that have risen to the challenge placed in front of them – with determination, with love, and with a stubbornness to push onward. They have ignored their fears, ignored their discomfort, and they do not give up.

So, as you look through this book, I hope you can see these names and faces as heroes – ordinary heroes. And maybe an ordinary person reading this, can be inspired to step out and climb whatever mountain he/she is facing.

“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” – Nelson Mandela
