NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE

NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE

NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE

    Start by doing what is necessary,

    then do what’s possible;

    and suddenly you are doing the impossible.-Francis Assisi

    Much of my work is behind the scenes, making sure finance, legal, and people systems are in place. Our Chiang Mai office is the headquarters of EMA for finance, HR, and education.

    Nan has been working with us for almost 3 years and has been our finance director. She is leaving for a job in Bangkok, and we will miss her. She has strengthened and pulled together our finance systems for T-RAD, RTC, and Chiang Mai.

    Due to COVID-19 last year, now again this year, and adding the Myanmar coup from February, we’ve had one finance complication after another, but somehow are doing the impossible of getting money and supply to the places that need it. T-RAD staff has patiently worked on numerous ways to get money in and out of the banks. Our donors have consistently given, even though travel is restricted both for them coming to Asia or any of us visiting them.

    Instead of being in 3 locations, our education program is now all at RTC due to COVID-19 and the coup. Y1 teachers in Chiang Mai are teaching math and English on zoom. Mitch and another doctor are teaching medical rounds to Y3, Y4, and Y5 by zoom.

    In April, we had our trauma training by zoom to RTC from the USA, with Bryce organizing and bringing in some consultants.

    T-RAD clinic doctors will start to teach by zoom to students at the RTC clinic.

    Our communications department has been restricted due to so little travel, but somehow, we are getting the stories and photos and sharing them with you.

    May we all be willing to do the necessary in front of us and be encouraged to see the impossible happening. And don’t forget to look for the angel nearby!

    For with God nothing shall be impossible

    And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord;

    be it unto me according to thy word.

    And the angel departed from her.

    Luke 1:37-38

    Caryl is based in Chiang Mai as the EMA Administration Director working behind the scenes to keep up with her husband, Mitch’s program ideas. She loves being part of bringing health for the hidden in all its various forms with travel along the way.
